Sri Lanka's Dialog waives charges on breakdown day

ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's Dialog Telecom has informed customers that it is waiving the charges of customers on September 09, when the network went down.

"We regret the inconvenience caused due to the disturbance to Mobile Services on 20/09/17," Dialog told customers in a text message.

"As a token of gratitude (sic), your Voice Call charges (Local, IDD, Roaming) & SMS charges incurred on 20/9 will be waived in full. You will receive this waiver as a credit on your next bill."

The firm gave no explanation.

The Dialog network was down for several hours on September 20, leaving customers without two connections from separate providers in difficulties.

After Sri Lanka's telecom services were privatized and a state monopoly broken, customers have got used to higher call completion rates and cheaper bills. (Colombo/Sept21/20170)
